Fabrication (also known as 3D nanoprintingnanofabrication, molecular assembly, and advanced additive manufacturing) is any of various processes used to make a three-dimensional object on a micro, nano, pico, or femto-scale. In 3D printing, additive processes are used, in which successive layers of material are laid down under computer control. These objects can be of almost any shape or geometry, and are produced from a 3D model or other electronic data source.

Fabrication refers to any sort of additive manufacturing that works from the nanoscale, is capable of creating various materials of a wide variety of physical features, and can reorganize the molecules of one material for use as another material, possibly with completely different physical and chemical features.

The ADEM ProtocolEdit

Fabrication is central to the success of the ADEM Protocol. Nanofactories are used to alter atomic material in order to create new materials, which is then used on the metamarket.
